Te Wahapu – Coastal Garden
The redevelopment of a small bach house required the existing overgrown gardens on a steep slope leading to the beach to be revamped. The slope already contained a number of Punga tree ferns and Nikau palms, and these were retained and enhanced with other plantings.
As this is a holiday home the garden needed to be easy maintenance, so shrubs and grasses were used on mass to cover the slope. Lomandra grass, dwarf Hymenosporum, Star Jasmine, Metrosideros Dalese were used to provide a sea of vegetation on the slopes. Feature plants such as Foxtail fern, Cordyline Showoff, Neomarica and Dietes Robinsoniana were used for year round interest.
