Sanctuary in the Cove
To create a point of difference for this waterfront holiday accommodation property at Coppers Beach an under utilised area of the property was redeveloped to create a sub-tropical water garden. The intention was to create a beautiful tranquil area that could be used by the cottage guests and for wedding functions.
Earthworks, land contouring and truckloads of local rocks were brought in to transform the space to create the structure of the garden. A large waterfall with gazebo became the focal feature for the garden, while the open lawn area became the restful green space. The waterfall connects into a rocky stream and small pond at the bottom of the garden. Other landscape features include sleeper steps, paved pathways, a rustic pergola over a paved patio, rustic timber archway and Brustic’s fencing to provide the enclosure and privacy to the garden space.
The landscaping was then completed by using large grade palms to provide the tropical canopy and dappled shade for the under planting of the sub-tropical water gardens. Many colorful flowering exotic plants were used to create interest in all seasons, so that there was always something special to see. Tropical Frangipani, Brugmansia, Canna, miniature Taro, Scadoxus, Bromeliads, Hibiscus, Cycads, Ligularia, Ctenanthe, and Zepheranthus to name a few.
